Mobile Parking Payment System (2009 - High School final project)
I developed a mobile payment system in which users are able to pay for their parking spot instantly through the use of their mobile phone. The user would easily be able to make the payment by sending a text message to a service number. The system has software, developed in Visual Basic 6, which communicates with a GSM Modem (Futura Elettronica TDG37) through a serial port. The software has the ability to store and process all the text messages received from the users. A MySQL database is updated every time a user parks or leaves a parking spot in order to let monitors check who correctly paid for their parking spot, thanks to a web control center (developed in PHP) which can be accessed from any mobile device (e.g. cell phones, palms, etc ...) and protected by a simple log-in page with cookies and sessions.
